You have probably heard that the EU has started to register PV products from China and you might now ask yourself which consequences this will have for your business. The answer is: It depends.

A group of European companies (EU ProSun) has filed an EU anti-dumping lawsuit against Chinese manufacturers of modules, cells and wafers a year ago. This lawsuit might result in preliminary punitive tariffs from June onwards and they might also apply ex post for the previous three months. This is the reason why the EU has started with the registration of Chinese products.

The consequence now is that prices of Chinese products have to take the risk of a preliminary punitive tariff into account. For example, the USA has punitive tariffs since October 2012 between 18 and 250%.

However, the EU will consider not only the interests of European manufacturers at its final decision. It will also take the interests of wholesalers, installers and customers into account. Thus, it is still uncertain whether punitive tariffs will be implemented or not. Nevertheless, already the possibility of punitive tariffs affects the market behavior.

In our opinion, Chinese products without a punitive tariff risk will soon be short in supply or higher in price.

Until the situation is clarified we recommend products from SOLON (Germany), SOLARWATT (Germany), LG (Korea) and Eurener (Spain).

We communicate directly with our Chinese suppliers Yingli and Hareon and will keep you updated as soon as we have found a way to treat with this uncertain situation. Products on stock are of course unaffected of possible punitive tariffs. Please let us know if you have questions or concerns.

We are all waiting for the spring to come. To make you more competitive we have rearranged our quantity scale for the range 0-100 kWp. In addition, we have lowered our markup for small-volume purchases. With our new pricing system you can save up to 3.000 Euro per order! It should also allow you to order smaller quantities which keeps your stock level at a minimum.

TÜV Rheinland (a leading German technical supervisory association) has tested 14 modules of German and international manufacturers in its newest “Energy Yield Test 2011”. A module of Yingli has made 2. place in this test!  All modules were tested for a year under outdoor installation conditions. Regular checks were carried out on their energy yield by TÜV Rheinland.

Overall, the test of TÜV Rheinland confirmes the excellent price/performance ratio of Yingli modules!
