After completing his double degree in business administration and industrial engineering – electric engineering in 1981, Heinz-Werner Binzel began his career at NUKEM GmbH, an engineering firm in Alzenau.
He held various management roles in Germany and the United States before becoming a managing director at NUKEM in 1993. There, he was responsible for accounting and finance as well as developing the solar technology business, later known as SCHOTT Solar.
In 1999, Mr. Binzel became a member of the board and chief financial officer at TESSAG in Frankfurt/M., known as RWE Solutions AG starting in 2001. From 2002 to 2003, he was the chief executive officer at RWE Solutions.
In 2003, Mr. Binzel became a member of the board at RWE Energy AG in Dortmund.
There, he was responsible for the purchasing and sales of electricity, natural gas and water energy in continental Europe until 2005.
Until 2006, he was also the chief supervisory officer of RWE Solutions and supported RWE AG as shareholder in divesting its interests.
Since then, Mr. Binzel has been active as a consultant, focussing on energy supply, especially regenerative energy – photo-voltaic. He is the managing director of Densys, of the EWCI GmbH consulting firm and, among others, member of the supervisory board of the TÜV Rheinland AG.
